The Pillars of TheCPAHerbalist

The Five Pillars of The CPA Herbalist

"The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it."
Genesis 2:15

1. Stewardship of God's Creation

I believe that the natural world is one of God's greatest gifts to humanity. The forest, the soil, the rivers, and every living plant deserve our respect and responsible care. As a steward of our family's forest in Occidental Mindoro, I see conservation not merely as an environmental responsibility, but as an expression of gratitude for God's creation. Every article I write is guided by the belief that caring for nature today helps protect its blessings for future generations.

2. Celebrating Philippine Medicinal Plants

The Philippines is home to an extraordinary diversity of medicinal plants that have served communities for generations. These plants are part of both our cultural heritage and our extraordinary biodiversity. Through this website, I hope to introduce readers to Philippine medicinal plants by sharing their traditional uses, botanical characteristics, and the stories that connect them to our forests, gardens, and everyday lives. My goal is to encourage appreciation, not exploitation, and to inspire respect for the remarkable biodiversity of our country.

3. Evidence Before Conclusions

My years as a Certified Public Accountant taught me a lesson that continues to guide my work today: never draw conclusions without reliable evidence.

In auditing, every conclusion must be supported by trustworthy records. I bring that same discipline to my study of medicinal plants. I value traditional knowledge because it reflects generations of observation and experience. I also value scientific research because it helps us evaluate those observations carefully.

When evidence is strong, I will share it with confidence. When evidence is still developing, I will say so honestly. When reliable evidence is lacking, I believe the most responsible answer is simply, "We do not know yet."

4. Lifelong Learning with Humility

Retirement did not mark the end of my education—it marked the beginning of a new classroom.

Every seed, every season, every success, and every failure teaches me something new. I do not write as someone who has all the answers. I write as a lifelong student who continues to learn from nature, from scientific research, from Indigenous knowledge, and from the generous exchange of ideas with readers.

Curiosity opens the door to learning. Humility allows us to keep growing.

5. Connecting People, Plants, and Forests

Medicinal plants do not exist in isolation. They are part of living ecosystems that sustain wildlife, protect watersheds, enrich soils, and support human communities.

When forests disappear, we lose far more than trees. We lose biodiversity, traditional knowledge, ecological balance, and opportunities for future discovery.

Through The CPA Herbalist, I hope to help readers see that learning about medicinal plants is also a way of learning to care for our forests. By protecting nature, we preserve not only the plants that have long been valued in traditional healing, but also the countless species whose full potential may still be waiting to be discovered.

My Guiding Principle

I respect modern medicine and the dedicated professionals who serve in healthcare. I do not write to replace evidence-based medical treatment or to promote miracle cures.

Instead, I write to encourage thoughtful learning about Philippine medicinal plants by bringing together personal observation, traditional knowledge, and responsible scientific research.

As a person of faith, I believe God created the natural world with purpose. As a former Certified Public Accountant, I believe every conclusion should be supported by evidence.

Those two convictions shape everything I write.

My hope is that each article encourages readers to appreciate God's creation, think critically, continue learning, and become good stewards of the forests and medicinal plants entrusted to our care.

Growing wisdom, one herb and one story at a time.
